The Raven Age’s debut album ‘Darkness Will Rise’ is quite typical and heavily influenced by mid-2000s metalcore. While on stage, they opened with Promise Land, which was a solid way to start their set to a small but quickly growing crowd. Lead singer Michael Burrough did a really good job of getting the crowd hyped up. The Raven Age seem quite unique – their music sounds like screaming death metal, but the vocals don’t fit that same style, which makes a nice change, with songs like “Eye Among The Blind” and “The Merciful One” going down very well. For a group with the release of their first album just around the corner, they’ve really come together well and found a sound that will make them stand out from the pack.
Right after the show, Metal Wani’s Adam Hayward had a chat with THE RAVEN AGE frontman Michael Burrough at Donington Park, Download Festival, UK.
He discusses playing at Download Festival UK and France, fan reception to the show, fan reception to “Darkness Will Rise”, touring with ANTHRAX and how touring with big bands like Gojira, Iron Maiden influences their stage performance.
He throws light on taking lessons from Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna, more support tours in the future, the positive vibe in the band with so many successful tours and many more.
