The Canadian hyperblaster Kataklysm celebrate their 25th anniversary. Currently, they are on tour for some special evenings. They stopped on the 5th of October 2017 in Hannover, Germany for their first show of the tour at the venue Musikzentrum. Supporter of the evening were the dark metal band Graveworm from Germany.
Because, of an infernal storm in the norther regions of Germany and the resulting traffic jams everywhere, I missed Graveworm. That is quite bad, because I was curious to see them live on stage in my hometown. My friends told me, that I missed a really awesome performance. I hope, I will see them soon, because they do a quite good job on the records and it would be nice to experience a live performance of the guys.
Fortunately, I arrived while the intro of Kataklysm was played. The venue was full of metalheads. I am not sure, but I think the show was sold out and consequently the hall was filled with motivated fans. This special anniversary show contained the performance of the two albums ‘Shadows & Dust and Serenity in Fire in their whole entirety. I visited Katakylsm many times at that venue, but I never heard such a good- mixed sound like this evening. It was powerful, clear and made many people bang their head and step into some mosh pits. The likable frontman Maurizio Lacono made some jokes about their age and the long while being musicians, and that created a familiar mood inside the hall. Many live-debuts were played and of course, the well-known heavy tracks of the albums like In Shadows & Dust, The Ambassador of Pain and As I Slither made the audience crazy. The good, old stuff rejoiced the audience even if without any encore. But I think, it was quite enough of nice death metal for a weekday. I loved the show!
It was a special and awesome opening of Kataklysm’s tour in Hannover. The sound was fine, the people were motivated and the special show of Kataklysm was impressive. The good, old stuff rocked the hall massively. Thanks for this experience!
