Alice Cooper talked about the beginning of Hollywood Vampires – the band he co-founded with actor Johnny Depp and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry back in 2015 – saying during a recent interview:

“I was doing a movie with Johnny in London – [2012’s horror comedy] ‘Dark Shadows.’ And we talked about it – I talked about the idea, I told him it would be great to put a bar band together.
“And he was like, in makeup because he was a vampire [in the movie] and he’s biting himself in the mouth while he’s trying to talk… Then I’m over at his house, and Joe was staying at the house.
“We sat there and I said, ‘Let’s just do it! Let’s put this band together.’ Right as I said that, Joe walks in and goes, ‘I’m in.’ And I went, ‘Okay, we got two guitar players and a singer now.’ And from there, from that nucleus, it just [expanded].
“And when we started recording, the great thing was that people started just showing up at the studio. [The Doors guitarist] Robby Krieger comes in – because we were gonna do a Doors song – and he just plays this slinky little guitar thing that only he can play. It’s his own style and it just sits there. And then McCartney comes in…”
