How do you feel about the latest album ‘Periphery III: Select Difficulty’ two years later?
“I’m really happy with the way that it came out and the touring we did on it and… I keep saying we were finally distilling what it is we do and how we work together, and ‘Periphery III’ was a perfect demonstration of that.
“We’re working on this new record now, we’re almost done writing it. I just got back from Maryland, it’s kind of more in that direction where we’re all just super comfortable working together and it’s just feeling really good.
“We learned a ton working on ‘Periphery III’ and we’re all bringing that forward to the new record.”
Are you going to do something different and shock the fans?
“There’s some shocking new moments on this new record. But there’s still a lot that makes it Periphery. Hopefully we don’t alienate you guys [the fans] because I know that’s pretty easy.

“I actually always make this joke… Whenever you interview somebody about their new record, they’re all like, ‘It’s the best stuff we’ve ever done. I love it.’ And it gets kind of cliche, but I do really feel that about this. I can’t say anything different.
“It’s not a direct follow-up but it’s just a little bit more experimental but there’s a lot of the moments that people love about Periphery on the record.”
