Metal Wani’s Carla Morton had a quick chat with SEPTICFLESH guitarist & songwriter Christos Antoniou in Bucharest, Romania.
The symphonic death metal pioneers are currently on tour over Europe along Krisiun and Diabolical, which the tour is already going on the halfway. Asked about the current tour, the axeman replied: ”It’s going well, nearly the half of it, it’s a long tour, 7 weeks… We’ve done even longer but it’s going well, the conditions are good, the bands are great, the tour goes really well…”
When asked about the public response to “Codex Omega” live, he said: ”Codex Omega” is the best album that we did till now, the press and the feedback from the fans are great. Is a great album for us and it also make us stronger to create something new”.
In February this year, the Greek metallers had an amazing show in Mexico along with the orchestra, which also led with a lot of comments from the fans, wanting to see the band with an orchestra in other countries as well. If this show in Mexico is going to be released on a DVD: ”It is in our plan, when we’ll return in May we’ll work with the director and hopefully it will be released next autumn”.
After a successful album, fans are waiting for a new album. When asked about the plan, he said: ”We will compose new material and hopefully, we will release it in 2020. You know, we have to talk to the label and the management to see what are the options”.
On what would be the musical direction on the new album and if will be orchestration again: ”You know, we are a symphonic band, we will try as always to create something interesting and new comparing with the previous releases, to create a fresh sound, you cannot change your style radically, but a good album is always a good album, if you don’t repeat yourself, then you are in a good path… Orchestra is the fifth member, we can’t change that.”
