Amon Amarth have given fans a few good reasons to fix their gaze upon the band this year. Its positive reception aside, their studio silence since 2013’s ‘Deceiver of the Gods’ has left a long, three years since the groups last release. As if a long awaited new album was not enough to warrant fan’s excitement, the question of who is filling the position behind the kit since their split with Fredrik Andersson has remained unanswered also. That is until now. Welcoming their new drummer Tobias Gustafsson (Vomitory),along with the release of their new album ‘Jomsviking’ in the coming months, Amon Amarth kick 2016 off at full throttle.
Speaking to Metal Wani’s writer Anne Catherine Swallow, Amon Amarth’s Johan Soderberg discusses new album ‘Jomsviking’, the endless possibilities the band still has, when it comes to writing songs about the life of Northern warriors and why Amon Amarth’s Facebook page shows the profile picture of a nerdy hacker. He also talks about new drummer and how the entire audition process went. He also reveals the band’s latest tour plans and setlist ideas and why their legendary guest singer Doro Pesch is the perfect woman to take on a boat when you are heading for a cruel viking journey. But now get your swords, fellow warriors, because Amon Amarth will once again burn down your villages and CD players!
