Well, day 2 of Metalhead Meeting festival started not with a good weather, actually while I was ready to head to the fest, a heavy rain started on (as the streets were flooded), and by the weather issues, I have missed the first band, Blood Oath (UK), I arrived when they just finished and got on stage Rhemorha (Siberia). I have seen the Siberians out 15 minutes and then I had to go interview the Dutch symphonic black metallers from Carach Angren, which were going to be on stage later the day. The interview went fine indeed, finished it in time when the next band was preparing for the show.
Skeletonwitch (USA) were supposed to play on first day, then the organizers announced that the Americans are re-scheduled for Saturday but in the end, their show got cancelled, but they were replaced by the Romanian folk metal band, An Theos. The rain didn’t stop but this was not a problem for the metalheads at all, not even to make some atmosphere during An Theos, when the band asked the public to make the so called `hora`- `reel` (a traditional Romanian dance), the crowd made a big circle, grabbing each one by the hand, go in circle for a few minutes as then the madness was on with a moshpit. It was a nice thing made by the crowd…
Carach Angren and their performance was amazing, I think it was better than the first time I saw them 2 years ago. A dark, horror and atmospheric performance, a band that keeps the public amazed and no wonder after their show, the Dutch got their merch sold out that evening.
Three more good bands to go for day 2, and the fest continued with the Canadians from Kataklysm which kicked ass, while I was also meeting my friends during their act. A good setlist from them, including also my favorite song `In Shadows and Dust` and if I’m not wrong they also dedicated a song to Vinnie Paul.
In a way, I’ve no idea what should I say about Epica, because this band did an amazing show! They were my favorite act from day 2, I simply enjoyed their show and even got goosebumps when they played my favorite songs `Storm The Sorrow` and `The Obsessive Devotion“. Simone Simons voice is simply amazing, all the sounded like were played on the CD, a show with energy (yes, they asked for the moshpit also!) but I guess can’t say more about Epica because they ruled at max! A band to see again anytime!
And, the last headliner of day 2, the Brazilians from Soulfly, a band awaited by the crowd more or less, joined the stage in forces with `Like Angels Weeping“and then playing my favorite song that every Soulfly knows and headbang on it, `Prophecy“. I was wondering if they’re gonna play at least one Sepultura song, and guess what, `Roots Bloody Roots` was in the setlist as well, the crowd getting crazy hearing the most known song by Sepultura.
Guess that is all about day 2 of Metalhead Meeting fest 2018. I am looking forward for the next year edition!
