During an appearance on SiriusXM, Ozzy Osbourne talked about the “It’s a Raid” track from his new album “Ordinary Man.”
Ozzy said:
“When we [Black Sabbath] were recording [1972’s] ‘Vol. 4,’ we rented this house in Bel Air to write this album, and we had a pile of coke and a pile of pot on this f*cking table.
“And I’m sitting there, it’s great; Bel Air, sun shining, coc*ine, booze, pot… I’m thinking, ‘F*ck me, I made it here!’
“So I’m sitting in this house and it’s boiling hot inside and these buttons on the wall… I go, ‘Oh, it must be the air conditioning.’ I press the f*cking button and in five minutes, four or five cop cars come screaming down the driveway.
“I’m shouting, ‘It’s a f*cking raid!’ So I grab the pile of coke and go into the bathroom. I’m going, ‘I can’t f*cking throw this!’ *emulates sniffing a lot of coc*ine*
“And then the door goes [knock, knock] and I’m… I got coc*ine coming out of my ears. I didn’t sleep for four days after that.”
Producer Andrew Watt chimed in:
“So, he tells me that story, and I’m, like, ‘F*ck, that’s amazing!’ And we used the real sh*t.
“I’m obviously a huge Motorhead fan, Post [Malone] wanted to do a song with Ozzy for his album since Ozzy was so generous to do a song with him [‘Take What You Want’] for his. Post loves Motorhead.
“At this point, I feel like we trust each other, so I was, like, ‘OK, we’re getting towards the end of the album, and at the end of the album there’s a bunch of these mid-tempo songs – we need one more heater for the end.’
“So we put down this thing and kind of start this vibe and Ozzy comes in and goes, ‘It’s a raid!’ The story of the song is on there.”
