In a new interview with SPIN, Wolfgang Van Halen talked about his uncle Alex Van Halen.
When asked whether Alex is going to join David Lee Roth on the upcoming farewell tour, he said:
“I don’t think so…”
When the interviewer noticed, Wolf’s reaction to his answer, Wolf added:
“Yeah, I know. I don’t know about that [Laughs].”
“Well, I’m not talking for Al [Alex Van Halen] or anything, but I haven’t heard. I haven’t talked to Al about it, but I mean, that doesn’t really seem like something Al would do.”
Wolfgang added:
“The thing with Van Halen that people should have learned right now is that if it doesn’t come from them, it’s not true. And Al has not made any public statements about this. So I wouldn’t expect it. If he didn’t say it, it’s probably not true. People love to talk about dad and the way he ran the band, but that’s not really true. Al’s the kind of the one who was in charge and in the way that the band publicly sort of related.”
Earlier as per the source, It’s also revealed that Dave will be performing with Alex Van Halen for the remaining 5 shows of his career.
He will retire after the last concert of his Las Vegas residency in January.
Here’s what he said:
“I’m throwing in the shoes.”
“I’m retiring. This is the first, and only, official announcement. … You’ve got the news. Share it with the world.”
He added:
“I’m not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows.”
