Legendary rock band MÖTLEY CRÜE has reportedly entered the studio with longtime producer Bob Rock to record some brand new music.
The news broke when CRÜE guitarist John 5 shared a photo of himself laying down tracks in a recording studio with Bob Rock in front of a mixing board.
Drummer Tommy Lee also shared the same photos on his Instagram page, along with one showing Lee, John 5 and CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx in the “big studio”.
The band members have been writing new music for a while now. Sixx confirmed that they were writing new songs on April 13th. In a tweet less than two weeks earlier, he mentioned spending some time “writing random riffs” with John 5. In a subsequent tweet, Sixx revealed that the creative process of songwriting had always been the heartbeat of the band. They were going to record a few off the floor in the big studio the following week and see where it goes.
John 5 joined CRÜE as the replacement for founding guitarist Mick Mars, who announced last October that he would no longer tour with the band due to his long struggles with degenerative disease ankylosing spondylitis. Sixx praised John 5, saying he “checks all the boxes” as Mars’s replacement following the latter’s decision to retire from touring. John 5 is one of the credited co-writers on the three original songs on the soundtrack to MÖTLEY CRÜE’s biopic “The Dirt”, based on CRÜE’s 2001 New York Times bestselling autobiography.
It remains to be seen what the band’s new music will sound like, but fans can expect it to have the same raw energy and signature sound that MÖTLEY CRÜE is known for. Stay tuned for more updates on the band’s upcoming music release.

Seems like a good idea. They haven’t released any decent stuff since 1994. And currently are being sued by Mick Mars, the only original member with any real talent…
