Just before her concert in Idaho a month ago, Lita Ford sat down with KPVI’s Deanne Coffin to discuss her remarkable journey in the music industry, spanning nearly five decades. When asked about how she has navigated the ever-changing music landscape, Lita expressed her unwavering passion for music, stating (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):
“I mean, you know, music is music, and everything else just kind of evolves around it. And as long as we can still create and perform music, then all the other changes just fade into the background.”
Reflecting on her early influences as she embarked on her musical career, Lita fondly reminisced, “Well, anyone who had the guts to rock out with guitar riffs was an inspiration to me. I’d say my biggest influence was probably BLACK SABBATH. It’s interesting because, at the time, Ozzy [Osbourne] was their frontman, and the first rock concert I ever attended was a BLACK SABBATH show when I was just 13 years old. Ironically, I later had a Top 10 hit single with Ozzy himself. It became his first-ever Top 10 hit single, as BLACK SABBATH had faced challenges cracking the Top 10 due to their distinctive style. So, when I collaborated with Ozzy on that duet, it climbed the charts and made it into the Top 10 in the United States. It was a moment of triumph.”
Lita recently completed work on her upcoming album, scheduled for release in early 2024. The album, a follow-up to 2012’s “Living Like A Runaway,” once again saw her teaming up with guitarist/producer Gary Hoey. Gary contributed his guitar prowess to the record, complementing Lita’s long-standing backing band, which includes guitarist Patrick Kennison and drummer Bobby Rock, along with the departed bassist Marty O’Brien
