Wolfgang Van Halen has finally broken his silence in response to David Lee Roth’s recent attacks against him.
Previously, Roth launched several verbal jabs at Wolfgang, accusing him of not giving the singer attention during their joint tour. Despite facing these accusations, Wolfgang remained silent for an extended period.
In a recent interview with 94.3 The Shark Radio, Wolfgang opened up about the dynamics within the touring band and addressed the internal drama. He hinted that his experiences, both positive and negative, have influenced the operational style of his band, Mammoth:
“I think we’ve actually been hitting a pretty great stride. I think everything I’ve been a part of — all the positives and negatives — have sort of influenced the way Mammoth operates. We don’t really have any room for personalities to make it a hard time [and make you] feel like you’re walking on eggshells. I think drama just isn’t worth it. And if you could just get together and have a good time with your friends and make some music, I think that’s all that really matters.”
Despite Roth’s ongoing criticisms, Wolfgang chose not to directly respond to the singer’s words.
The feud between Wolfgang and Roth began when Wolfgang alleged that their album, ‘A Different Kind Of Truth,’ was absent from major streaming platforms due to Roth’s disapproval. In response, Roth criticized Wolfgang for ejecting guests from a New York performance during their last tour together. Roth also claimed that Wolfgang accused him of neglecting him onstage during their joint tour. Although Roth later issued what appeared to be an apology in a video, it was later revealed to be fake.
‘A Different Kind Of Truth’ enjoyed significant commercial success upon its release, but in October 2022, it was removed from nearly all streaming platforms. Following the album’s release, Van Halen embarked on tours in 2012 and 2015, with Wolfgang playing bass. These tours marked their final performances before the band disbanded.
