In May 2017, The Dead Daisies are releasing a live CD/DVD titled ‘Live And Louder’. Recorded during their winter UK and European tour, where they performed to over a million fans, ‘Live And Louder’ will be the next best thing to actually being there, as the album contains no overdubs and sounds exactly the way it was recorded.
Formed in 2012, The Dead Daisies have endured several lineup changes, but it appears that the current lineup, consisting of David Lowy (guitar), Brian Tichy (drums), Marco Mendoza (bass), Doug Aldrich (guitar), and John Corabi (vocals) has hit its stride. Following the release of 2015’s ‘Revolucion’, and 2016’s aptly titled ‘Make Some Noise’, this band is doing exactly that. Touring extensively through Europe with Whitesnake and KISS, along with several North American dates as well, The Daisies have been wowing crowds and winning over new fans at every stop, as well as preparing for their own headlining tour in support of ‘Make Some Noise’, from May to December, 2016.
The DVD was filmed on the road by Lukas Hambach and Oliver Halfin, and features live concert footage in venues both small and large as well as backstage question and answer sessions with the band members themselves. What better way to get closer to our idols, than hearing them directly respond to questions concerning pre-concert rituals, favorite performances and the like? The portion that was available for review was very well put together, edited seamlessly between concert footage/photos, backstage interviews, and candid shots of the Daisies on the road. It’s readily apparent when watching these seasoned pros perform, that they thoroughly enjoy what they do, as well as an appreciation for the friendships they share. Whether performing to 10 people, or 10,000, the Dead Daisies put 110% into each performance to ensure that each show is better than the last. As Marco states, his “favourite show hasn’t happened yet, it’s the next one”. To show how much they appreciate their fans for supporting what they do, all members of the Dead Daisies make a point to meet fans, and sign autographs for them after every show, as long as scheduling permits, which as a fan is pretty cool.
Be sure to catch The Dead Daisies on their upcoming Dirty Dozen tour, as they headline 12 shows across North America August 10th to 27th, as well as their European tour where they’ll hit all the big festivals in June. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. ‘Live And Louder’ is available on May 19th on CD/DVD as well as on iTunes or wherever you buy your digital music. Their earlier albums mentioned above take you back to a much better time in music, reminiscent of the 70’s and early 80’s, when the entire album was good, where all songs could stand alone. Bottom line is, they are all great musicians, in a great band, making great music. Check ’em out!!
