Sunday was the third and final day of Carolina Rebellion, and I wanted to make it count. Aside from arriving a bit late to the festival we made our way inside to the Rebellion Stage for Seether, another band that I have never seen live or ever really been super into; but it was cool to see them live they open up with “Gasoline”. They had a pretty cool stage set up with bright lights, and a big crowd. They definitely played some songs I have heard on the radio growing up like set finisher “Remedy” which is the song they closed with.
By the time they were done we walked towards the Carolina Stage for Three Days Grace, a cool band with catchy songs. I really enjoyed when they played “I Hate Everything About You” as it reminded me of days back in 2009 where I would hang out with my friends at band practice and they would cover this song. The crowd was loving it and singing along to the song, which was closed up with the most popular song by them “Riot” which happens to be my favorite moment the song started everyone started screaming and we all started singing along. Everyone was clapping and fist pumping out of excitement! Also there was a much older crowd! I am sure if anyone looks this song up live would understand how crazy, loud and rowdy we all got!
I am not familiar with Fozzy at all, and it was interesting seeing them live. These guys aren’t normally the type of band I would get into, but they sure do know how to put on a performance with high energy! Papa Roach was cool to see because it seemed like everyone was really into them while growing, but I never really got into them. They played a lot of songs from 2009 like “Scars” a song we all know, and even if you are not into the band or any song by them you just immediately know that THIS is them. Unfortunately,I wasn’t feeling well, so I had to step out and relax for a bit while the band finished their set.
You know when a band is your guilty pleasure? Well The Offspring is one of mine, and I remember that from the first time I heard them I automatically became super fond of them! They played a set list of 16 songs total, and all throughout I couldn’t help but feel like I was in high school all over again; being in the poms team and learning a routine for an upcoming football game. There is not a song we all didn’t love and their set was filled with a whole lot of singing along, jumping and dancing. The band had so much energy up on stage it had me smiling the entire time! By the time that the band’s set was coming to an end, it was dark out a bit cold.
Avenged Sevenfold was up next, and it was hard trying to even get up close to the stage because the fans were packed in so tight that you couldn’t walk anywhere…and by this time it was also pitch black! Everyone started chanting “Avenged Sevenfold, Sevenfold” before the lights came up, and when they did everyone began yelling and head banging. I was mind blown with how amazing the stage was. It was like watching a movie there were so many lights and different images in the background as the band was playing which made it really cool. While I was growing up everyone loved Avenged Sevenfold, and while it took me a while to get into them, I was glad to finally see them live. I saw people crying of so much excitement as their favorite songs would be played, it was definitely an experience I will never forget. I am so glad we can all come together and enjoy ourselves because of music.
As one person said to me if it wasn’t for music we all wouldn’t be here at this festival enjoying ourselves, and Carolina Rebellion was a fun festival to attend, and one in which I had the pleasure of shooting a few bands and interacting with people from all over the place. It was a successful weekend full of music and amazing people, and if you have never attended Carolina Rebellion I suggest you do so. It is worth the trip and more, and if you are traveling from far away, the festival makes sure you have a good time! This was an unforgettable experience!
