Metal Wani’s Daniel Jaramillo had a chat to legendary Deep Purple bass player Glenn Hughes.
He discusses about Glenn’s upcoming Deep Purple tribute show, why he likes to play in Australia and his impression of Australian audiences, the idea behind playing classic Deep Purple songs live, the impact Deep Purple’s songs have had on popular culture, decline in record sales and what it means for him personally to perform those songs 40 years later.
He also talks about how he chose the band line-up to play a Deep Purple tribute show, on whether he was aware that his last show with Deep Purple at Liverpool Theater in 1676 would be his last ever gig with the band, the ‘feeling of discontent’ that this was the end of the road and on Deep Purple being inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame as well as whether those accolades mean much to him.
They also spoke about whether he listens to any contemporary rock bands, why there’s no urge to listen to other bands anymore, lack of bands in the current scene who can replace the legends and his plans to release new music in the near future.
