“This is the way it goes: you should never pay too much attention to the personal words of your idols.
“I’m saying this to the people who are friends of mine as well. Because you’re gonna be let down… And it’s not really a letdown but…
“Here’s the thing: people are people and they all have separate experiences that shape their lives. Separate things, separate sounds, separate experiences.
“Every single guitarist that I admire so much, Uli [Jon Roth] included, is a devout Hendrix fanatic.

“They just tell me how fantastic the guy is, and I just wasn’t around to see that happen. I just didn’t get it myself.
“I respect their opinions, and I certainly respect Jimi Hendrix and his music and his legacy, I’m just not a fan of it.
“It’s like Coke or Pepsi, I like Coke and someone else likes Pepsi, it’s no big deal.”
