Bangalore-based Electronic/Space rock band Space Is All We Have have been wowing audiences around the country since 2014. And now they are all set to release their debut album ‘Thank You, Universe!’
You can now stream their new single “Craters” from the album here:
For the past three years and counting, Space Is All We Have has so far won 50 odd music competitions across the nation, and have also supported Skyharbor on the Hyderabad leg of their tour.
Here are some of Space Is All We Have’s most memorable performances:
- NH7 Weekender Music Festival (Bangalore)
- Storm Festival (Coorg)
- Monkey Town Arts & Music Festival (Ooty)
- The Greatest Gig in the Sky (Bangalore)
Guitarist and composer Krishna Sujith is the only founding member of the band to still remain after a ridiculous 12 line-up changes. He says:
“We’ve come a long way from a humble beginning as architecture students, I’m still grateful to all the founding members for sharing the vision I had and my present bandmates for keeping it that way. Fast forward three years, having won pretty much every competition in our city and beyond, and finally taking the dreaded hiatus to put our efforts into this album. We have worked really hard on this, we’ve had to modify our songs over the course of tracking the album which is why it even took so long. We went to some of the best studios in the country to record our instruments and vocals. Keshav seems really happy to have got such good source material to work with.”
[metalwani_content_ad]Keyboardist Yogeendra Hariprasad (Yogi) joined the band in 2015. He is the brains behind prog-fusion band Pineapple Express and his solo project The Yummy Lab. About the sound of Space Is All We Have, he says:
“The goal for me with all of my projects has always been to bring out fresh sounding music. I’m both excited and nervous that the world is finally going to get to see all of that soon, starting with Space is All we Have. Writing synth parts over a pretty much fully written song has been challenging but rewarding. I knew Keshav was my guy ever since the time we were still dreaming about making this album and needless to say, he is already doing his magic. I’d say this is probably his best work till date. We’d like to believe that we’re going to knock this album out of the park.”
Fun fact: Yogi has also played the bass on this album.
‘Thank You, Universe!’ was produced by Skyharbor’s Keshav Dhar, who says:
“I’m really excited to be working with Space is All we Have. I think they’re one of the freshest prog acts from the country and they bring a cool and interesting sound to a somewhat saturated genre. I’m looking forward to working on this record with them.”
This album features Shiyasz Abdul on the vocals, Krishna Sujith and Shashank Akella on the guitars, Yogeendra Hariprasad on the keys and bass, and ex-drummer Daniel Ancheril on the drums.
