Slayer guitarist Kerry King talked about meeting Brian May, sharing his thoughts on Adam Lambert fronting the iconic group along the way. He told Eddie Trunk (transcribed by UG):

“[Brian May] wanted to come and meet us. We all took pictures with Brian May. He came out to meet us on our way to the stage because we had to pass their compound. So he came out when we were on our way to the stage and we all grabbed pics.
“I wasn’t going to and everybody else did and I’m like, ‘Who am I kidding? When am I gonna see Brian May again?’ And after we played I went up and watched like half of their set.
“I had a setlist in my hand so I can see what was coming up. I got like halfway through and then I bailed because you want to leave before the last band.”
Asked for his thoughts on Queen with Adam Lambert, Kerry replied:
“I thought it was good. The one thing I miss is, and Tom [Araya] agreed, I’m like ‘What’s missing?’
“He said, ‘The rasp.’ He didn’t have a raspy voice like Freddie Mercury. And he nailed it and I’m like ‘That’s what I’m missing!'”

Kerry also remembered watching another rock icon live in concert – Mr. John Fogerty of the Creedence Clearwater Revival fame, saying:
“You probably wouldn’t think I would go see John Fogerty. Kicked the shit out of it! Everything he played except one was Creedence. He sounded great!
“I never got to see Creedence and now I did. Because he’s the voice and he’s why you want to see those songs. His son plays guitar, his other son comes out and sings a song.
“[James] LoMenzo [former Megadeth bassist, also played in White Lion, Black Label Society, and more] is playing bass! I didn’t know that so I got there and I’m sitting there watching like, ‘That motherfucker looks like JLo, man!’ And he does a little bass solo and John Fogerty says, ‘James LoMenzo!’ I knew it! [laughs]”
