Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cezares defended the return of As I Lay Dying, tweeting the following response to MetalSucks for their decision to stop covering the band:

“[You] did not mention that [by] Cali Law, [Tim’s ex-wife] Meagan is entitled to half if not all of his [publishing]/royalties etc. Tim performing these songs helps the catalog earn money to support the family. He’s served his time and he should be able to earn a living regardless of what u or people may think. IMO.”
The site replied with:
“Meggan herself is the only one who can speak about whether she is OK with that arrangement. Until she does (if she ever does), we assume she is not.”
To which Dino commented:
“It’s California State Law he pays, she has no control over that. If he doesn’t it could mean more prison time. Supporting him working is supporting the ex family. [You’re] forgetting that the band is not signed and they are doing this themselves.”
Cezares also noted in response to a person who subsequently deleted their tweets:

“So [you’re] saying when people get out of prison can’t have a job? … It’s only rewarded if people buy his music. You do understand that his ex wife and kids also are compensated, bottomline is he has to work. It happens everyday to people with regular jobs it just so happens that music is his job.”
Dino also said:
“Intellectual people make mistake everyday, he served the time for the crime now he’s doing what he does best. Support or don’t that’s your choice plus it don’t matter what we think he’s doing it and so far doing it well.”
