In a brand new interview with “CBS Sunday Morning”, former JOURNEY singer Steve Perrywas asked if the door is still open for him to one day play with the band again. He responded: “All I can think about is where I’m at right now… I love going forward; I love going to the edge of what’s next; and, for me, [singing for JOURNEY again] would be a return. And I have to do, at this point in my life, what really makes me feel purposeful at this moment and on the right track for me.”

When the interviewer pointed out to Perry that his answer sounded like a “no,” the singer replied: “If you’re looking for the answer I have right now, then that’s the answer I have.”
Perry recently told Rolling Stone that he couldn’t imagine working with Neal Schon in any capacity again or even re-establishing the friendship.
The former JOURNEY singer, who originally left the band more than three decades ago, made his comments in response to Neal‘s frequent public calls for a renewed collaboration.
“I’m not sure that’s possible without stirring up hopes of a reunion,” Perry said. “Please listen to me. I left the band 31 fucking years ago, my friend. You can still love someone, but not want to work with them. And if they only love you because they want to work with you, that doesn’t feel good to me.”

Perry reunited with JOURNEY for the first time in years as they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2017. The iconic singer appeared onstage with his former bandmates as they each gave speeches, but did not perform with the group later in the event.
During his speech, Perry praised each of JOURNEY musicians as well as the band’s current singer, Arnel Pineda, who was not being inducted into the Rock Hall. “I must give a shoutout to a man who sings his heart out every night, Arnel Pineda,” Perry said.

I don’t want to hear him sing anymore and I sure don’t want to look at his big nose.
You were never a true Journey fan!!!
That’s because you don’t know real music
We don’t care what you want. Move on.
I think you want to make Love to Steve perry.
That’s just darn rude, hateful at that. You must have been raised better then to criticize people and if not then you are old enough to to know better.

Seriously, what is the matter with you???????? It is very easy to sit behind your phone and make really insensitive and rude comments. I am sorry that you are such a miserable human.
It’s all about the nose
Steve put his time in with Journey and should be proud of the overwhelming legacy he left behind & the music they made together that will be around long after we are all gone. He doesnt want to go back, he only wants to move forward, I don’t blame the man. He wants to sing/play/collaborate on future endeavors not past stuff. He doesn’t have to anymore. People should let him be, and just appreciate the music he is putting out from now on
The man is happy doing what he is doing these days, leave him alone! This man is so talented he can do as he wants. I loved him in the band journey but I absolutely love his voice all by himself. He could sing a nursery rhyme and it would sound beautiful. I love you Steve and could listen to you all day so I wish you the best for all you do. Keep singing for the love of music!!
I would love to see this, but the ultimate decision is Stevies!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I worked in the business. I’ve met Steve Perry twice. He is a class act. On the second occasion of meeting him, he remembered me….and opened the conversation with “aren’t you…”.
Made me feel like a million bucks, since he meets soooo many people. His explanation here is not angry.
He just doesn’t want to live “what was.. ”
That and he can’t sing all the time any more…just like an athlete, there comes a time your voice changes…and let’s face it, his range was pretty high.
I don’t really know what happened between Steve and his band mates, in particular Schon and Cain but I’ve heard thru many sources that it was how they replaced Perry because he wasn’t able to perform due an injured hip and he didn’t want to rush into a quick surgery without 2nd opinions. He begged them to reconsider and do other projects but leave the name Journey alone. They soon found out that replacing the beloved legend was not so easy nor have the success they had with Perry.
All of this makes me think about Def Leppard and how they stuck by drummer Rick Allen after he lost his arm in a tragic car wreck, they didn’t fiee him but yet they waited for his return…Had Schon and Cain had waited on Perry there’s no telling how many more hits they would have had..
Steve’s voice is nothing near what it was in those days. His last solo album shows it. It wasn’t easy for him to do more because of his own criticism than anyone else’s. I still love it, but I’m not him. Also I think there’s still bad blood with Neil about trying to get him to tour on their last album regardless of Steve’s problem with his hip. I listen to Journey every day, I’ve got to where I skip the Pineda versions, the phonetics are irritating.
I agree with you Steve, you’re still a legend to me,
You made the band journey back in the 80’s
Without you they wouldn’t amount to ?.
Great music and great times it’s ok to not want to do it anymore.
Have any of you delusional Journey fans heard Perry sing recently or listened to his new music??? He doesn’t have the same range or chops he did in the 80s & 90s. If he tried to sing with Journey again it would be just another Axl Rose/Vince Neil situation??
I do listen to Steve Perry’s music. He has a great voice. I listen to Journey when he was in the band too.
