During his June 15 performance at 101WKQZ’s Piqniq at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Tinley Park, IL, Tom Morello threw a fan’s phone onstage.
The incident took place after the guitarist invited fans to join him onstage as he was closing the set.
According to 101WKQX, he also asked the audience not to put cellphones in his face.
After one concertgoer attempted to take a selfie with the guitarist onstage, Tom grabbed the phone and threw it into the air. Footage of the incident was quick to surface online, and Morello shared it, adding:
“Put a phone in my face onstage and I’ll throw it. #LiveInTheMoment”
After one fan seemingly complained about Morello‘s actions in a subsequently-deleted tweet, the musician replied:
“Ur fave k-pop bands will let u take all the onstage selfies you want. You get to decide!”
When one fan asked Morello, “But would you take a selfie with a fan offstage,” the musician replied, “All day.”
During the show, Tom also brought Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath for a few tunes, including “How Long” and “The Ghost of Tom Joad.”
