Gene Simmons posted a new tweet shared his words written on iHeart Radio’s recent article.
Here is what Gene said about UK and USA musicians:
“America created rock ‘n’ roll, blues, jazz, and rap and all of the various types of popular music, but what you [the U.K.]have been able to do is to make it royal and all from a small area with not that many people.
California has more people than your island and has the fifth biggest economy on the Earth and yet other than The Beach Boys, California doesn’t have much. You have The Beatles, The [Rolling] Stones, U2 and Queen, and the list goes on and on.”
Gene posted that article on Twitter and revealed that he stands by my words.
Here is what he said:
“I stand by my words. The Beatles, the Stones, Queen, and many others, took rock ‘n’ roll to heights American artists never did, even though America invented rock, blues, rap and so on. The UK simply does it better. End of story.”

Ever notice how Gene and Trump speak exactly the same way? F them both!!
Doors, Lynyrd Skynyrd and CCR are better then any of the bands he just mentioned. Both the doors and CCR are from California. So him dropping the Beach Boys as the best and only thing from California shows how little he knows , also how erroneously ignorant he actually is about the music he plays. Didn’t led Zeppelin steal just about every hit they had from blues musicians in America 20 years earlier. He’s a moron who should study his Rock history, basically all those British bands just ripped off American blues bands. They themselves admit to this now.
Better is strictly an opinion…Zeppelin, Stones, The who, The Beatles, Sabbath, Deep Purple, U2….it doesn’t matter who or where you got your ideas from, it ultimately has to do with number of records sold and your impact on the music world
I agree with the rock aspect, but blues, rap and jazz? He’s trippin’ and bad!! When you think blues, you think the BB King, Tyrone Davis, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters. Contemporary blues artists are more American. There’s Eric Clapton, but after that…really? When you think rap, seriously British? Even from just a commercial perspective, he’s lost his mind. But hey, whatever man…
Gene can say whatever he pleases. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with him. What’s funny to me is that he doesn’t even consider his own band among rock’s royalty? Like them or not, bands like KISS, Aerosmith, and Van Halen are revered names in the annals of rock n roll history. And while taste is subjective, these bands have the numbers to back it up, as well. You could also argue that bands like AC/DC and Rush are up there, too and they are neither American or British. What Gene is talking about is perception and his? It’s just different than a lot of us.
The thing I will agree with is for a small population they produced alot that was great.
