Do you recall one of the most successful tours in heavy metal history? Yes, you do. Clash Of The Titans, featuring Megadeth and Slayer took place in 1990 and 1991. The tour was formed in support of two classic thrash albums Rust in Peace and Seasons in the Abyss. The tour bridged the gap between the popularity of thrash metal and the rise of the alternative rock and grunge scene in the ’90s. The tour was first initiated in Europe which was supported by Testament and Suicidal Tendencies. The second phase happened in the United States which was tri-headlined by Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax and supported by Alice in Chains. In the recent few months, we have been hearing about the revival of the tour. Thrasher’s worldwide are stoked and are waiting for the announcement.
Legendary “Clash Of The Titans” tour has been rumored for years, but industry insiders have ensured that the tour will take place sometime next year celebrating its 30th anniversary.
It started with a new update from a Facebook page Thrash Metal Family indicating that it will include a different lineup.
This time with MEGADETH and TESTAMENT likely on the bill. Slayer isn’t planned as they are almost done with the farewell tour.
Further replacements could possibly be:
KREATOR, EXODUS, DEATH ANGEL, OVERKILL or ANTHRAX.
There’s a possibility of new school acts like SUICIDAL ANGELS, HAVOK or WARBRINGER taking the opening slot.
