Van Halen, a legendary band that’s credited with restoring hard rock music to the forefront of the scene have been inactive for a while now. The last Van Halen album titled A Different Kind Of Truth was released back in 2012 and was hugely successful. The band toured for few years and eventually stopped touring once the album cycle ended. In the last few years, there has been a discussion on the possibility of Van Halen reuniting with classic lineup. Although this rumor has been active since 2017, it hasn’t materialized to date. The last update we had was when Sammy Hagar, who fronted the band for more than a decade, hinted about the possibility of a world tour with classic Van Halen lineup.
In a new interview with VHND, singer David Lee Roth shared an update on the current status of Van Halen and Eddie Van Halen’s health.
He said:
“Four summers have gone by [since the band last played a show]. And for a singer, that’s paralyzing. Like a boxer – or a tap dancer – I am dependent upon my whole rig. My whole body.
“Perhaps playing the guitar, or piano, for example, with your hands, is a bit more forgiving over the years. If you come watch me now, I’m 65 going on 23. If you saw my X-rays, I’m 65 going on 80. [Laughs]
“I’ve paid a price for the time off, frankly. Enough said there. I hope the best for the fellas. But I don’t know what’s coming up with Van Halen.
“It’s time for me to use whatever talents and skills that I have. I’m bettin’ the rent on it. You’re going to have a ball. This is the smile that launched a thousand hips.”
Fans have been eagerly waiting for the reunion. There was a report stating Eddie Van Halen health isn’t up to the mark.
Lee Roth was asked about his health. He said:
“I’m the face of Van Halen from this point on, most likely. I’m not sure what’s happening with Ed, but he’s probably not gonna answer the bell this time.
“And it’s not my place to guess. But we’ve been in touch. The fellows who I’m working with in terms of my road crew and the amps come from Van Halen.”
“I hear all the same rumors that you do and it’s not my place to guess.”
