In an old interview with Classic Rock magazine, AC/DC’s Malcolm Young and Angus Young talked about former singer Dave Evans.
The interview was published recently by the magazine.
Angus Young [sounding slightly irritated]: How many bands has he f**kin’ got?
Malcolm Young: Every time we go back to Australia there’s something in the local paper about, ‘I made the band AC/DC into what they are’ [cackles dryly]. The day we f*ckin’ got rid of him, that’s the day the band started. How we got rid of him is quite a good story. We were playing at this pub in Melbourne.
Dave was almost like Gary Glitter in the gear he’d insist on wearing. It was ridiculous. All these hard-nosed, beer-drinking Aussies were after him, so we told him to go for a walk for ten minutes and we’d play a boogie number. But it went on for half an hour and the place was rockin’. After that, we realized that we didn’t need a singer.
Angus: No, we realized we didn’t need that singer! Actually, to call him a singer is being a bit polite.
Recently legendary rock band AC/DC posted on social media for the first time in almost 2 years. They have strongly hinted at new activity from the band. AC/DC posted a short 8-second video on Facebook celebrating the 40th anniversary of their highly successful album ‘Highway To Hell’. Whether it’s 40th-anniversary tour celebrating ‘Highway To Hell’ or a new album. Only time will tell. We may also have a new album coming soon. Only time will tell! AC/DC was in the midst of making — or at least planning — another album, with Rudd and Johnson both back in the lineup. Online reports have also indicated Angus Young will dedicate the new AC/DC album to his late brother.

They’re right about all former members. So tired of hearing about Dave Evans, and Mark Evans, they had their time, but they are both gone, and they were replaced by people who were better or just fit together better. Once Bon showed up, the lyrics were improved 100%, and the music started pounding better than ever. Cliffs bass is heavier and fit with Mal and Phil perfectly. Both Dave and Mark helped, but the foundation of Mal, Angus, and Phil were so tight, Cliff added heavier bass lines, and Bons lyrics is why they are great. Dave held them back and Mark played on a lot of classic songs, but that was a looooooong time ago, over 40 yrs, and they were simply replaced for a reason.
Dave Evans was the Pete Best of AC/DC. It would never have worked with him. Mark Evans while he only lasted a couple of years is to this day still a respected past member of the band. He is a favorite on Mini different AC DC fan sites
