After the announcement of Neil Peart’s passing and an outpour of tributes online, some of the currently touring artists have honored the late Rush drummer live in concert.
These include Tool, whose drummer Danny Carey honored Neil with a special live solo this past Friday night (January 10) at the Viejas Arena in San Diego, CA.
During Danny’s solo, a photo of Neil and Carey was projected on the screen as the drummer played a partial cover of Rush’s “A Passage to Bangkok” before the whole band played “Jambi.”
Furthermore, the band played “2112” through the PA as the “walk-out” music after the show was done.
In related news, this past Saturday (January 11) at AFAS Live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Dream Theater held a moment of silence for Neil. The band previously stated through its social channels:
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of one of the world’s greatest artists, lyricists and drummers of all time. To say that Neil and the music he was a part of was an influence on Dream Theater is a gross understatement.”
