In a recent conversation with Guitar World, Queen‘s Brian May talked about Eddie Van Halen‘s music and revealed why he had regrets about their current relationship.
When asked about his skills, Brian said:
“Eddie is incomparable. He stands there as one of the pillars of the development of the electric guitar technique. He’s a wonderful guy.
And Eddie can pick up any guitar – and I remember this from the Starfleet Project sessions – it doesn’t matter what guitar it is, he will make it sound like him!
I watched him pick up a bass when we were doing a demo and he made that sound like Eddie Van Halen. It’s just astounding what he can do with those fingers.”
On his relationship with Eddie, he said:
“You know, it’s funny, during the lockdown, you start to look at your life again, and one of my regrets is that certain people, I think, I’ve let slip away.
I haven’t talked to Eddie for a long time and I really regret that. I’d like to change that because he’s a fantastic guy, not just a great performer but an incredible spirit. The spirit, it’s blinding, and again, you could never get fed up of listening to that.”

He didn’t stagnate, it’s just that van Halen lost its sense of humour when roth left. And with Eddie and Alex ‘ intensity, it was kinda weird not to have the contrast of the jester like Roth. Hagar is also an intense guy, so the music was just waaay different .
Eddy is the man. On EG right after Jimmy and les #3 all-time is my guess and really #1 today. With all do respect to the others. Being first doesn’t always mean best but eddy well whos better.
Brian may isn’t even in that convo he great but not on Ed’s level not many are or have been or will be.god speed on the EG thx ED from all of canada

They are photos. So they are like mirror images. Pictures of me with my bass look like I’m left handed too
Photos are not mirror images, that would mean that any text in a photo would be reversed. The only photos that are mirror images are ones that have been manipulated or selfies from a cell phone.
Only if you’re taking selfies. Regular photography (with a real camera, not your phone) never results in a reversed image, unless that option is chosen in development of the photo from the negative.

Eddie is right-handed… the photo is just flipped.
Eddie can “stagnate” if he wants to. If he only recorded the first album, that would still elevate him to one of the greatest of all-time. Just because an artist doesn’t continue to thrill your high standards doesn’t mean anything to the artist, nor should it.
It disgusts me to see fans demand new music from Ed, in his 60’s, fighting for his life battling cancer. If everything this man did for you, the soundtrack to your youth, isn’t enough, then you aren’t a fan, and probably overall just a POS person. I crave new music too, but he earned my respect a looong time ago.
Absolutely Truth! Thanks for knocking some ignorance of people down a notch. Mr Van Halen has done more for Rock music than anyone could have asked for. I honor him with unfathomable praise and cherish the sound he laced my youth life with. Praise and worship King Edward VH!
