Controversial king Ted Nugent is back in the news, this time getting blasted by rock queen Joan Jett.
The Rolling Stone magazine had listed Joan Jett on its list of “100 Greatest Guitarists”. This instantly triggered Ted Nugent.
In a new interview with NME, Joan responded to his statement saying she doesn’t deserve to be in the list.
Joan said:
“Neither should he. Is that his implication, that he should be on the list instead of me? Well, that’s just typical — it’s what I’ve dealt with my whole life, being written off. Ted Nugent has to live with being Ted Nugent. He has to be in that body, so that’s punishment enough.”
She continued:
“He’s not a tough guy. He plays tough guy, but this is the guy who sh*t his pants — literally — so he didn’t have to go in the Army.”
“So this,” Jett concluded, “is the tough guy who’s running around America, stirring things up against each other.”

“So I just mentioned some killer, monster guitar players, huh? Some of the best that ever lived. But when you see the Rolling Stone magazine list of greatest guitar players, they list Joan Jett but not Tommy Shaw.

Ted’s not wrong. Joan is mediocre at best as a guitar player. Many of the names Ted mentioned like Tommy Shaw, Derek St. Holmes and even Ted himself are all top echelon guitarists who are far Superior to Joan Jett! I’ve never heard in any other circles of rock music that Joan Jett was a great guitarist. Even her wx- bandmate Lita Ford blows Joan away.

Nonsense. Nugent is a decent guitarist, but hardly anything to write home about. Chord progressions are chord progressions. That’s a song writer thing, more than a git player thing (yeah, I play the git too and neither me or Nugent is anything special). Nugent is just a washed up bitter right-wing nutjob, angry because nobody pays attention to him because he hasn’t done anything interesting in decades.
forget debating how good he is all that matters is do you think he is better than Joan Jett. I think anyone that knows anything about music and has heard them both play would say yes he is definitely better than she is, If she somehow makes a list of great guitar players he should be on it (but the more logical conclusion is they both probably dont belong although I can make a better argument for him that I can for her (And I am a bigger Joan Jett fan than I am a Ted Nugent fan, but unless i lie i can’t say she is a better guitar player)

I didn’t feel he said anything bad about her,he was actually complimentary in his statement. He just feels there are other better guitarists than her that should have made the list.
What hurtful thing did he say other than she doesnt belong in the list (which is true, no one actually ranking musicians honestly would put Joan Jett in the top 100 guitar players, even suggesting that is ridiculous. I mean if we went more general and said “who is the better artist” I would likely pick Joan because i like her music better, but as a guitar player Ted is light years ahead of her.

Ted knows talent when he sees it. Even though Jett made some descent music she is not one of the 100 best guitar players. Shouldn’t even be in the same category with Eddie Vanhalen, Jimmy page , or Linsey Buckingham.

I like Joan Jett. She’s a good singer but as a 100 top guitarist not a chance. I think Alice Cooper could out play her any day of the week and he doesn’t play guitar.
Irrevellant Joan has made a career for herself covering other people’s songs. She should just stay silent on this one an appreciate what she has been given. The people whos songs that helped her get in he RR HOF should be considered as well.

Joan Jett is a fabulous rhythm guitarist who is talented at singing, playing guitar and writing some of her own riffs and music. Is she deserving of being a top 100 guitarist…….he’ll no, is Ted, yes, poop pants and all. Ted has some very masterful guitar parts.

Yeah, Ted, like many other celebrities musicians, and regular folks did everything they could to get out of the draft.. Many Liberal minded folks renounced their citizenship and moved out of the country. Joe Biden claimed he had asthma.. Trump claimed some sort of bone spurs.. Greg Allman shot himself in the foot.. etc…etc…etc… why..? Not because they weren’t trying to get out of going to “The Army”… They were trying to get out of going to Vietnam..! I agree that Joan Jett does not deserve to be in the top 100 guitar players, however Ted’s argument should be with the people that made the list, not Joan Jett. He could very easily say “I dont agree with everyone on the list” and leave it at that. I M O
