In a new post on Facebook, legendary RATT frontman Stephen Pearcy shares his memory of late guitarist Robbin Crosby.

The following message was posted on Pearcy‘s Facebook page earlier today:

“Let’s not forget Robbin “King” Crosby on this (40) year anniversary of RATT n’ Roll! Robbin was very instrumental in the creation, development, image and of course co writing the music with us in RATT circa 1983-1991.

When his band Mac Meda imploded in 82, he would come out and jam with the band when Jake E Lee was the guitarist. Jake the left, Robbin and I decided to create the RATT as we all know in the books today.

The first song we wrote together “You think you’re Tough” from the RATT EP 1983 was the song that hit local L.A radio KLOS, KMET and got the band noticed besides our live club show performances. In the end regardless of life choices, Robbin lived and breathed the band 24/7, no bs 110% all or nothing. We knew what we wanted day one, what we wanted to achieve and we set our goals and we we did it. More then we would even know.

Robbin was the heart of the group, the one who kept us in line, my right hand man from day one. He lost his way as some do in this business unfortunately, but always kept integrity. It’s a dangerous occupation.

In an appearance on an episode of SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk”, RATT singer Stephen Pearcy spoke about his decision to focus on his solo career instead of RATT.

When asked, he said (via Blabbermouth):

“[I am] not [trying to be] disrespectful, but look, no Warren [DeMartini, RATT guitarist]; he chooses to kick back, and that’s all great. And Bob [RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer] — everybody’s pretty much laid back except for me. So I’m just taking care of business.”

When asked about reuniting the classic RATT lineup, he said:

“Look, I’d rather be out there [with my solo band] than having the [RATT] band out there with just me and the bass player in RATT. That’s not what RATT was. RATT was [Robbin] Crosby [guitar], Pearcy, DeMartini, Bobby, and Juan. And so be it. And I’d rather give a bit of integrity to the band, ’cause it was a great rock band, and just continue doing what I do. You can’t beat a dead horse or try to bullsh*t people.”

Further, he was asked whether he regrets having done shows under the RATT name with just him and Juan from the band’s classic lineup.

He said:

“Yeah, actually. Yeah. Because it’s not the same. I don’t like to bullsh*t. Look, you wanna hear the songs? I wrote ’em. Come see me play ’em. I sang ’em. Maybe somebody else helped rearrange ’em or added some lyrics. I don’t know. It’s all the same.”

In a recent interview with Atlantic City Weekly, RATT legend Stephen Pearcy addressed the glory days of Ratt and more.

When asked, Stephen said:

“As we celebrate Robbin‘s passing 20 years today, it’s still Ratt & Roll. [The music’s] got life … so we are kind of tripping in a good way. He was such an important part of the band. I knew we could play without him, but when he was gone, I knew the band was done. I knew we could go through the motions with different players, but I lost a real, true partner there — a driver in that machine. So, I continue to do the solo thing because I can write what I want and do solo records and tour when I want with who I want.”

He continued:

“We were supposed to do a big summer tour with RATT this year. I initiated doing something if the [surviving] guys [from the classic lineup] would get together. But there is no reason for them to do it or a need for them to do it, so I decided to just go out solo. And I am better off. Some of these guys [in my solo band] have been with me 18, 20 years. So if you want to Ratt & Roll, come see my shows.”
