In a recent episode of the This, That & The Other podcast, former Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer discussed a range of topics, including the band’s upcoming box set release and the possibility of a reunion with the classic line-up members.
The interview took place as Blotzer was promoting Ratt’s The Atlantic Years 1984-1991 box set, which is set to be released on vinyl on June 9, 2023. Blotzer expressed his excitement about the project and shared some behind-the-scenes stories about the band’s early years.
However, the conversation soon turned to the possibility of a Ratt reunion with the remaining classic line-up members, including lead vocalist Stephen Pearcy, guitarist Warren DeMartini, and bassist Juan Croucier. Blotzer expressed optimism about the idea, stating that he would “never say never” to a reunion.
Blotzer went on to discuss the challenges of maintaining a successful band over time and the importance of creative collaboration. He emphasized the need for each member of the band to contribute their unique talents and perspectives to the creative process.
He said:
“If it doesn’t happen with this release, it could happen in 2024 as it’s too late in the year to mount a tour.”
“Next year is 40 years since [Out of The] Cellar came out.”
He concluded: “I feel it’s inevitable, the fans want to see this outfit one more time out there.”
Bobby Blotzer also weighed in on allegations made by Mick Mars, guitarist of Mötley Crüe, regarding the use of backing tracks during the band’s 2021 The Stadium Tour. Blotzer indicated that Ratt has always been superior to Mötley Crüe in terms of musical performance.
He said:
“Ratt‘s always crushed Mötley musically.” He added:
“They got more press, movie stars, explicit sex, murders, and sh*t, always in the magazines.”
