Former HANOI ROCKS frontman Michael Monroe had a long-awaited reunion with members of MÖTLEY CRÜE at the Rockfest festival in Hyvinkää, Finland on Friday, June 9.
After exchanging pleasantries with Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, and Tommy Lee at the event, Michael shared a photo of himself with Sixx and DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott on social media. In his accompanying message, he expressed his excitement, saying:
“Having a blast hanging at the Rockfest with Nikki Sixx & Joe Elliott. MÖTLEY CRUE were great! DEF LEPPARD just started and are truly amazing as always! Good times.” Nikki also commented on Michael’s photo, saying, “Great seeing you.” Monroe warmly replied, “@nikkisixxpixx it was SO lovely to see you. And Vince too for the first time. It was very touching. And Tommy, of course! You guys sounded great! See you again soon! All my Love & Respect, Michael.”
Nikki Sixx took to his own Instagram page and shared a different photo of himself with Monroe. He expressed his surprise and delight, writing, “What a wonderful surprise seeing @michaelmonroeofficial at the show tonight. Haven’t seen this fine gentleman for years with everybody’s personal life on top of careers and then living in different parts of the world. Your a class act Michael and please bring your harmonica next time.”
In response, Monroe expressed his gratitude, saying, “It was truly wonderful to see you again, my friend. I had the greatest time, and meeting you all meant the world to me. I will definitely bring my harmonica next time so we can do some rockin’ together! Love, Respect & Rock’n’Roll! Michael.”
The following day, Monroe took to social media once again, sharing a photo of himself talking to Vince Neil at Rockfest. He reflected on the significance of the moment, stating:
“One of the most important moments of my life was meeting Vince Neil for the first time last night. Razzle always wanted us to meet as he thought ‘us singers’ were a lot alike. Under different circumstances, both bands probably would’ve ended up as good friends, but fate had other plans… Thank you for your time, Vince. We didn’t say much, but your eyes told me more than 1000 words ever could. And your singing was great at the show. Nice to finally see you guys live!”
