In a recent interview with United Stations Radio Networks during the Songwriters Hall Of Fame’s 52nd annual induction and awards gala in New York City, Richie Sambora addressed rumors of a possible reunion with Bon Jovi, clarifying that he has not been approached by the band.
When asked about the plans for a Bon Jovi reunion, Richie responded, “Naaaah! No, not even close. Nobody asked me yet — but I could do it tomorrow if they asked me.”
Interestingly, back in February, Richie had expressed a different stance on a potential return to Bon Jovi. In an interview with Absolute Radio, he revealed his intentions to collaborate with the band again following their joint performance at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2018. “We’re talking about it,” he mentioned at the time. “I don’t think there’s any reason not to at this point.”
Richie also shared insight into the temporary hiatus Bon Jovi took due to Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal challenges. “Jon was having a hard time with his voice a little bit there and he needed to take a little bit of a breather,” Richie explained. Regarding the timing of the Bon Jovi reunion, he stated, “I don’t know when Jon’s going to get his voice together and [when the Bon Jovi reunion is] going to happen, but we have to get out there and do it for the fans, really. I feel a second obligation.”
When asked if he would collaborate on new music with Bon Jovi, Richie humorously commented, “Oh, if he doesn’t let me, he’s crazy. I’m on a tear.”
Despite the conflicting statements, it seems that a Bon Jovi reunion involving Richie Sambora is not currently on the horizon. However, Richie remains open to the possibility, expressing his readiness to rejoin the band if approached.
