Former The Runaways guitarist Lita Ford recently shared her thoughts on a possible Runaways reunion. During a chat with That Rocks!, the guitarist revealed the one reason she can’t be involved in a reunion. She said:
“I would love to do that, but it’s really Joan Jett and her team. They just don’t want to do it.”
Ford was informed that Jett was still touring and performing with her band. Ford replied with the following:
“It’s just, I don’t know, it’s dumb. Let’s do this, you know. But it’s okay. That’s not what she wants to do, and that’s okay. I know a lot of fans would love to have it, and I would love to give it to them. The Runaways [is what] I’m talking about.”
In an earlier interview, Cherie Currie shared that it was not only Jett but Ford, too, prevented the reunion of the band. Currie stated that Jett uses the excuse that since they are not teenagers anymore, they can’t be The Runaways again, which Currie found to be ‘incredibly selfish.’ She also stated that both Jett and Ford owed it to the fans.
During another interview, Ford claimed that Jett never answered reunion questions because her manager prevented her from discussing it.
