AC/DC is making a highly anticipated return to the stage, ending their hiatus since 2016, and they’ve recruited the talented drummer, Matt Laug, for their upcoming performance at the Power Trip festival next month. The festival, featuring a lineup of seasoned rock icons, will rock Indio, California from October 6-8.
Matt Laug, an accomplished American drummer, boasts an impressive track record of collaborations with renowned bands and artists such as Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, SLASH’S SNAKEPIT, and Vasco Rossi. His musical journey began after he completed high school in South Florence, and he subsequently relocated to Los Angeles in 1986 to further his education. His exceptional drumming skills quickly earned him recognition as a sought-after studio drummer in the bustling city.
In 2001, Laug played a crucial supporting role for AC/DC during the North American and European legs of the “Stiff Upper Lip” tour, aligning himself with SLASH’S SNAKEPIT.
AC/DC recently treated fans to a sneak peek of their rehearsal sessions for Power Trip, sharing a brief audio snippet. They also added a message to stoke excitement: “PWR UP for Power Trip! Listen to the rehearsal of the boys powering up with Cliff Williams, who’s coming out of retirement for the festival, and Matt Laug on drums.”
While AC/DC’s lineup change is noteworthy, with the return of Cliff Williams and the absence of Phil Rudd, the band has not provided specific details regarding the circumstances surrounding Rudd’s non-participation in the upcoming performance.
