Wolfgang Van Halen, who joined VAN HALEN as their bassist at the tender age of 15 in 2006, recently discussed the conspicuous absence of “A Different Kind Of Truth,” VAN HALEN’s 2012 studio album, from streaming music services.
In an interview on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” Wolfgang addressed this puzzling situation. He revealed, “Yes. The contract ran out on putting it up on streaming services. So we’ve been working on getting it back, but there are some people involved who do not like that record and are not making it easy to get it back up.”
When pressed further to identify the individuals causing the album’s streaming absence and if they were part of the record’s creation, Wolfgang confirmed their involvement, stating, “Yeah.” Host Eddie Trunk hinted at a particular individual known for his three initials, presumably alluding to VAN HALEN’s iconic singer, David Lee Roth. In response, Wolfgang hesitated for a brief moment before acknowledging, “Probably. I mean, yeah, you can put it together.”
Wolfgang expressed his earnest desire to see the album accessible on streaming platforms again, but it was clear that the concerned individual, likely David Lee Roth, held a contrasting opinion about the record. Despite the challenges in the way of reinstating the album on streaming services, Wolfgang Van Halen hoped that fans who cherished “A Different Kind Of Truth” had acquired a physical copy of the album. It was a revealing insight into the intricacies of the music industry and the impact of differing opinions on the availability of cherished music.
