In a recent report by The Boston Globe, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry shared updates on the band’s plans, expressing hopes to resume their farewell tour by late summer or fall of 2024.
The band had to cancel multiple tour dates, including their New Year’s Eve show, due to a serious vocal cord and larynx injury to singer Steven Tyler.
Perry conveyed optimism about returning to the stage in the coming months and hinted at the possibility of a rescheduled New Year’s Eve show. Despite the setbacks, Aerosmith has remained active during the hiatus, focusing on their musical catalog. Perry mentioned that the band has a wealth of unreleased material set to be unveiled over the next year and a half, including remixes and alternate takes.
“But with any luck we will be back out late summer and fall of 24,” Perry added more hopefully in a text. “And there’s always next New Year’s Eve! Stay tuned for that.”
A notable highlight mentioned by Perry is the release of Aerosmith’s acclaimed 1973 concert at Paul’s Mall, a now-defunct basement club on Boylston Street. The concert, broadcast by rock station WBCN two months after the release of the band’s debut album, is considered a significant moment in their development, according to Perry.
