On the red carpet of the recent Metal Hall Of Fame gala at the Delta Marriott Garden Grove in Garden Grove, California, MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist John 5 shared with The Metal Voice that he and his bandmates are actively working on new material.
He mentioned, “We’re writing songs, and a new song will be coming out soon. It’s really great, and I’m super excited and I can’t wait.”
When asked about the musical direction of the upcoming MÖTLEY CRÜE material, John 5 described it as “heavy, great songs.” He emphasized the heaviness of the new tracks, likening them to something one could easily hear from the ‘Dr. Feelgood’ album.
Nearly a year ago, MÖTLEY CRÜE collaborated with longtime producer Bob Rock to record three new songs, including “Dogs Of War” and a cover of BEASTIE BOYS’ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).”
In a recent interview with Illinois Entertainer, John 5 provided insights into MÖTLEY CRÜE’s current songwriting process, mentioning a recent interaction with bassist Nikki Sixx. He stated, “Just the other day, Nikki [Sixx] called me, and he was playing guitar over the phone, and he’ll play a riff, and he’ll sing this melody, and it sounded like it could be something off of [MÖTLEY CRÜE’s debut album] ‘Too Fast For Love.’ It’s just natural for him to write these songs that I have loved and lots of other people have loved. I think we’re always going to make new music because, man, this guy is pumping out amazing lyrics and great music. When we all get together, it’s pretty magical.”
