David Lee Roth has responded to Wolfgang Van Halen’s accusation that Roth is the reason Van Halen’s final album, ‘A Different Kind Of Truth,’ isn’t available on streaming platforms.
A few months ago, Wolfgang alleged that his only record with the band was absent from major streaming services due to Roth’s personal dislike for it. In his new video titled ‘Family Therapy..,’ Roth mockingly apologized for ‘upsetting some people’ and said he ‘loves’ his ‘old rock band’ and misses their late guitarist Eddie Van Halen.
The video featured a staged chat between Wolfgang and a therapist, illustrating the bassist’s frustration over the album’s absence from major streaming services. The mock therapist bluntly informed Wolfgang that the 2012 LP was ‘DOA (dead on arrival),’ ‘KTC (kicked to the curb),’ and ‘a complete FP (faceplant).’ Roth hinted at a reluctance to deal with lawsuits for an album he and Alex Van Halen don’t hold in high regard, suggesting paying lawyer fees to renegotiate the album’s streaming presence wasn’t worth it.
“Do you remember Leon Spinks? How about Larry Holmes or Trevor Berbick? Well, these were the last couple of Muhammad Ali’s fights, and nobody wants to remember them because they were no fun… And your albums with Van Halen are a lot like those last two fights.”
Roth referred to the album’s commercial underperformance and likened it to Muhammad Ali’s last fights, implying they were not memorable or enjoyable. Wolfgang has expressed a desire to see the album streamed online, but Roth’s apparent disinterest and the involvement of people who dislike the record have complicated efforts to return it to streaming platforms.
Despite its initial success, ‘A Different Kind Of Truth’ was removed from major streaming services in October 2022. Wolfgang has previously stated that the contractual issues and resistance from those who dislike the record, including Roth, are obstacles in the album’s return to streaming.

Who the F*ck is Wolfgang?
Don’t look back Wolfie, you can do lots of great new Rock’N Roll and many recordings to come, you’re fresh and have lots of future to stay in sterile disputes with guys that expel negativity.
