Over its five-decade journey, King Crimson has continually evolved, embracing various incarnations and musical directions. In the 1980s, Robert Fripp assembled a new lineup featuring guitarist Adrian Belew, drummer Bill Bruford, and bassist Tony Levin, resulting in the creation of acclaimed albums like “Discipline,” “Beat,” and “Three of a Perfect Pair.”
Although Fripp initially hinted that this lineup would mark the band’s final iteration, Adrian Belew has now announced a fresh venture called Beat. This project aims to revisit the music from his time with King Crimson. Joining him are Tony Levin, renowned guitarist Steve Vai, and Tool drummer Danny Carey.
Surprisingly, Robert Fripp has expressed his support for the project, affirming his endorsement on social media. He even disclosed that he had discussions about the project with Steve Vai in March 2024.
Currently, only one show has been confirmed, scheduled to take place at Humphrey’s Concerts By The Bay in San Diego on September 17th. Further details about the project’s scope and future performances are eagerly awaited, and updates will be provided as they emerge.
