SKID ROW has announced the departure of Swedish singer Erik Grönwall. To fill in for upcoming scheduled concerts, the band has enlisted their longtime friend Lzzy Hale of HALESTORM to take over vocal duties.
Erik has made the decision to step away from the band due to concerns about the demands of touring and its impact on his health and recovery. He expressed his desire to focus on a lifestyle that better supports his overall well-being, healing process, and family.
In a statement, the SKID ROW members expressed pride in their collaboration with Erik over the past two years and extended their best wishes for his health and future endeavors. To commemorate their time together, the band will be releasing a live album capturing this chapter of their 35-plus-year history, with details to follow soon.
Erik reflected on his time with SKID ROW, describing the opportunity to join the band shortly after his leukemia treatment as a dream come true. However, he acknowledged the challenges of touring with a compromised immune system resulting from his bone marrow transplant.
“While I have immense respect and love for SKID ROW and its members, I must prioritize my health,” Erik explained. “After consulting with my doctor, I’ve concluded that stepping aside from my role as the band’s lead singer is the best decision for my recovery.”
Expressing gratitude to the band and fans for their support, Erik emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health above all else.
