Mick Mars’ departure from Mötley Crüe has brought him more benefits than drawbacks, allowing him to break free from the confines of the Mötley Crüe identity.
In a recent interview with FOX17, the musician delved into his latest solo project, ‘The Other Side Of Mars.’ Reflecting on the current state of music, Mars lamented the lack of diversity and highlighted the varied nature of his album:
“Diversity is, not always, but is missing nowadays. I purposely wrote this way, in this manner, to take you on a little short journey. Every song you hear, you’re imagining or seeing a different landscape or whatever; it’s a music scape, I guess. But I wanted to put that across to show that I’m not just this [one-dimensional player and songwriter].”
When prompted about feeling liberated after years of contributing to a globally recognized band, Mars expressed:
“I feel more like I’m free to do whatever. […] There’s a billion different things that you can do, and you stay in this little box. I can’t do that.”
Despite the recent release of his album, Mars is already planning his second solo endeavor. He hinted that the upcoming album will explore a slightly different sonic direction compared to ‘The Other Side Of Mars.’
In the same interview, Mars addressed comments about the rapid pace of his musical output, considering the proximity of his second album announcement to his recent release. He responded:
“Not really, because things have been floating around for quite a while. I was very dedicated to my band. And so it’s, like, when I’m freed up to do what it is that I can do, ‘The Other Side Of Mars’ comes out of it.”
