Sammy Hagar kicked off his summer 2024 tour Saturday night (July 13) at the 20,000-capacity iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida.
For “The Best Of All Worlds” tour, Hagar and his bandmates in THE CIRCLE — ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Jason Bonham — are being joined by guitarist virtuoso Joe Satriani, who has recorded and performed with Hagar and Anthony in the band CHICKENFOOT, and multi-instrumentalist Rai Thistlethwayte.
The 21-song set in West Palm Beach consisted largely of VAN HALEN material, including the opening track “Good Enough”, from 1986’s “5150” album, as well as two songs from 1991’s “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge”, “Poundcake” and “Runaround”, and a pair of David Lee Roth-era VAN HALEN classics, “Panama” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love”, as well as a section of “Jump”.
The rest of the set included Satriani‘s “Satch Boogie”, the rousing rock-swing guitar instrumental that put him on the map in 1987 and helped propel his second album, “Surfing With The Alien”, to platinum status. and several of Hagar‘s solo classics, such as “There’s Only One Way To Rock”, “Eagles Fly”, “Heavy Metal” and “I Can’t Drive 55”.

Okay, I am not throwing shade but I am a realist, and ticket prices dictate better. Michael Anthony carries the show 1 out of 10 he is a 12 even at his age, great energy, great vocals, sammy is an 8 would be a 6 without mike…He doesn’t sing early VH well, but likely doesn’t want to as he wants his hits to be the show stoppers. Satriani is a gun for hire, prob doing Sammy and Mike a huge favor because who can even come close, no energy he is a 5. jason does what good drummers do and he is solid in that role and Alex never really was that outgoing or huge part of the show other than feeding off his brother back and forth. This tour would have been worth it if Dave was along and they split the songs and maybe found someone besided Sach, IDK. Still great for their perspective years on this earch.
