Rumors about a new Linkin Park singer continue to swirl, with some speculating that Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 might be the next frontman. Sum 41 recently hinted at an upcoming announcement, fueling speculation that Whibley could be joining Linkin Park.
The band teased an announcement on X, stating, “Tune in. Wednesday morning Deryck Whibley announcement.” Interestingly, the timing of their countdown aligns with Linkin Park’s own countdown.
Fans are drawing connections, especially since Sum 41 is wrapping up their career with a farewell tour that concludes in January 2025, leaving Whibley with a clear schedule afterward. Reactions on social media include one user exclaiming, “Holy fckin sht he’s the new Linkin Park singer,” and another welcoming him with, “Welcome to Linkin Park.”
A fan also recalled the memorial show where Whibley performed with Linkin Park, noting, “I’ve said ever since the memorial concert that Deryck was the closest to sounding like Chester.”
In late April, Billboard reported that Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Dave Farrell were considering a 2025 reunion tour and contemplating a female vocalist to replace the late Chester Bennington. However, this speculation might not be accurate since the current rumors suggest Whibley, not a female vocalist. Nonetheless, Whibley’s previous performances with Linkin Park suggest he is already familiar with the band.
