Dave Navarro issued another apology last week regarding the turmoil within Jane’s Addiction, hinting that the band may not return. His recovery from a lengthy illness had set the stage for the original lineup’s first tour in decades, with new music and a possible album on the horizon.
However, singer Perry Farrell’s public meltdown on September 13, which included an onstage altercation with Navarro, abruptly ended the tour after just a few performances, forcing the band back into hiatus.
In a recent social media post, Navarro referenced their latest single, “True Love,” which was released following the cancellation of their tour. “I am proud of the work we did on this song but I am equally saddened by the fact that you will likely never hear it live,” he shared, although the band had performed it earlier in 2023 while Navarro was still too ill to join.
“I’d also like to publicly apologize to our crew, Crawlers and their crew, and to Love and Rockets and their crew,” he continued. “Thanks for being our travel companions for as long as you did. I am gutted that things ended this way and that so many jobs were lost as a result. May all of our hearts mend together.”
This marks the second time Navarro has suggested the band might be finished, having previously stated, “Perhaps it’s simpler to recognize when something is gone and learn from the magical lesson of grief rather than avoid it and remain in a consistent state of dissatisfaction.”
