Nikki Sixx doubts that a Mötley Crüe tour featuring Guns N’ Roses will come to fruition.
“We really tried. What a tour for the fans,” the bassist remarked when a fan expressed hopes for a Mötley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses stadium tour next year, specifically mentioning Hersheypark. “We are holding out hope that Mötley Crüe and Guns and Roses Stadium tour next year hits Hersheypark. If so, we will be there.”
Discussions about such a tour have been ongoing. In March, Nikki Sixx provided an update on the potential tour via a post on X. During a fan Q&A session, he commented, “We tried. It just didn’t work out for now. Would be a great tour. You never know.”
Speculation about the tour began in July 2023 when Nikki expressed his enthusiasm for a Mötley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses collaboration, stating, “I think us and Guns [N’ Roses] would destroy the world.”
In August 2023, Sixx reiterated his thoughts on the idea of a co-headlining tour, saying, “We think it would be a killer tour for the fans, but nothing is in the works. We’re still figuring out what’s next (next year) for us….” He also addressed the topic in September 2023 during a Q&A session, mentioning, “We think it would be a great tour for fans and both bands alike. Everybody is touring and working right now. If something that massive was to happen, it would just have to happen naturally.”
Guitarist John 5 also expressed interest in a tour with Guns N’ Roses. “Well, if you were to ask me in a reality sense, like bands that are touring and bands that I love, my number one would be Guns N’ Roses,” he shared on the Appetite For Distortion podcast last year. “And me and Nikki [Sixx] talked about this.”
John 5 continued, “He was, like, ‘Who would you wanna tour with?’ No — someone was asking us; I forget who it was. Someone was asking us, and we both said, ‘Oh, Guns N’ Roses.’ And just because it’s such a perfect fit. We both love them very much. And we’re friends. I mean, I love all the guys so much, and I’ve been friends with them for a very long time. I mean, a long time.”
Mötley Crüe’s upcoming performances include a show on September 26 in Hollywood, Florida, followed by a concert on September 28 in Louisville, Kentucky, and an appearance at Aftershock 2024 on October 13.
