Rudy Sarzo took to X to express his thoughts on Ozzy Osbourne’s recent speech at the Rock Hall ceremony.
“Finally. Wish he would of thanked Bob Daisley, Lee Kerslake, Jake E. Lee, Tommy Aldrich & Rudy Sarzo,” a fan commented, tagging Sarzo. In response, Rudy noted, “He did thank Randy Rhoads.”
Osbourne was first inducted as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006, and on October 19, he received a second honor as a solo artist—an accolade he has been eligible for since his initial induction.
During the ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, a tribute to Osbourne’s solo career featured performances by Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan, and Jelly Roll, alongside a backing band that included bassist Rob Trujillo, Zakk Wylde, Wolfgang Van Halen, Chad Smith, guitarist Steve Stevens, and producer Andrew Watt.
“F*cking love you guys. Well, here we are. You know what? I can’t believe I’m here myself. Let me get the thank yous out of the way, because I’m not going to bore you with a long, drawn-out f*cking monologue,” Ozzy stated during his thank-you speech.
He continued, “I’d like to thank whoever voted me into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for my solo work. A great thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
Jack Black, who inducted Ozzy, remarked, “Sure, you could go stream Post Malone and Taylor Swift and get all the warm hugs you need for your broken hearts. OR you could stay up all night and get your minds blown by Ozzy’s entire catalogue for the first time. Holy sh*t! You kids are so f*ckin’ lucky.”
Osbourne delivered a brief speech, highlighting his gratitude for Randy Rhoads. Some fans on Reddit expressed that the event heavily emphasized Rhoads, while others felt Ozzy missed an opportunity to thank Dana Strum and Bob Daisley, who were instrumental in his career. Although Jack Black hosted, he overlooked the Jake E. Lee era. Wolfgang Van Halen also performed ‘Crazy Train,’ a classic by Rhoads.
