Van Halen fans have expressed their discontent following drummer Alex Van Halen’s recent comments, in which he stated that other members didn’t “do the band justice.” The remarks garnered significant media attention, and fans did not react positively.
“WTF is his problem. Of course they are. And fans love it. VH brothers were extremely difficult and Roth is absolutely impossible,” one user posted on X in response to Alex’s statements. Music journalist Dave Wight added, “Well maybe if you had participated, they could have done the band justice. Al seems to have a bug up his a*s with Sammy.”
Another fan remarked, “The more Alex opens his mouth, the less I like him. Sammy made him some serious money. Sammy could also sing in tune, write songs, and perform. Oh, and play well with others.”
The controversy stemmed from Alex’s comment made few days ago: “I’m not interested. They’re not doing the band justice. They can do what they want to do. That’s not my business.” This was his explanation for not wanting to participate in the “Best Of All Worlds” tour.
Currently, Alex is promoting his upcoming memoir, Brothers. The book notably downplays Sammy Hagar’s time with Van Halen, as well as the contributions of Extreme vocalist Gary Cherone, and the band’s reunion with David Lee Roth that began in 2007.

AVH is right. That tour was tripe because it’s not what Hagar promised. He said when it was announced that it was going to be a tribute tour for EVH and to Van Halen’s legacy. Instead it morphed into a Sammy & Friends Tour. That’s fine but it’s not what was promised. Even Anthony said during an Eddie Trunk interview that he wished the tour was something different. Hagar plays the nice guy but he’s a lying sk*nk.
Alex has always been and will always be a douchebag.
