On November 8, former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley honored the late Paul Di’Anno with a heartfelt tribute during his concert in Athens, Greece. Bayley performed the iconic Maiden track Wrathchild and dedicated the song to Di’Anno, who passed away on October 21 at the age of 66.
Bayley shared a brief video clip of the tribute on Instagram, captioning it simply: “For Paul…”
When news of Di’Anno’s death first broke, Bayley expressed his sorrow in an Instagram post, remembering his friend and former touring companion. “Very sad to hear of the death of my friend Paul Di’Anno. Paul & I did quite a few tours & concerts together over the years… Sweden Rock, Ukraine, Australia, Scandinavia,” Bayley wrote.
“He had a great sense of humor & those were crazy times. His voice & his music with Iron Maiden and his own projects will live on. Fondly remembered, sadly missed. RIP,” he continued.
The tribute was shared shortly after Iron Maiden’s own message honoring Di’Anno’s legacy. “We are all deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Paul Di’Anno earlier today,” the band posted on social media. “Paul’s contribution to Iron Maiden was immense and helped set us on the path we have been travelling as a band for almost five decades.”
Blaze Bayley’s tribute during his Athens show was a touching moment for fans, underscoring the lasting influence of Paul Di’Anno on the rock and metal world.
