In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Alice In Chains guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell revealed that he is open to collaborating musically with Metallica’s James Hetfield. When asked by fans whether he would be interested in making an album with the iconic frontman, Cantrell shared that the two have casually discussed the idea in the past, though nothing formal has come of it.
“James and I have talked about it, kind of,” Cantrell said. “We never had a formal conversation but I’ve jammed with him at Kirk’s [Hammett, Metallica guitarist] place. I’ve even spent a night or two at his house, and we’ve ended up with guitars in the kitchen and on the porch. It’s something I’d be really curious about, even to just write a song with him. As for whether it’d turn into something more than that, he’s got a pretty demanding day job. Ha ha! So I’d understand if it never comes to be.”
Though no solid plans have been made, Cantrell’s openness to collaborating with Hetfield has sparked curiosity among fans of both bands, wondering if the duo might one day work on a project together.
