In a recent interview with Bad Brad, James Michael, the lead singer of Sixx:A.M., responded candidly to the notion of stepping in as Mötley Crüe’s lead vocalist, should the band seek a replacement for Vince Neil.
When asked if he would consider such an offer, Michael immediately dismissed the idea, stating, “Not a chance in hell.” He elaborated, “I wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole now,” adding that while he maintains close ties with all the members of Mötley Crüe, including their new guitarist John 5, he has no interest in filling Vince Neil’s shoes.
Michael went on to praise John 5’s guitar skills, saying, “I know John 5 very well. He’s a wonderful guy and is really doing a killer job as their guitar player.” However, he acknowledged ongoing tensions between Mick Mars and the rest of the band, stating, “I love all of them separately. I know all of them individually and I don’t get into all of the differences that they have.”
On the subject of a potential vocal replacement, Michael explained, “Even though I’ve got the range where I could do that, I would never make it sound like Vince. He just makes it sound like Mötley Crüe.” He emphasized that while he could physically handle the vocals, he believes taking on such a task would be too risky. “I just think that it’s too risky of a job to try to take on,” he concluded.
Despite his admiration for Mötley Crüe’s legacy, Michael made it clear that replacing Vince Neil is not a venture he would entertain.
